Romantic crossing

Our second night in Stockholm was a washout. A deluge of rain had us awake at oh-my-god-its-early o'clock. Another start when the rain is so noisy you can't sleep, but it's so rainy you don't want to get up! We stubbornly lay there even when it started to drip inside, but when the thunder started we decided to get up ... we'd camped under trees and didn't want to see the lightning.

At least the weather meant there was no queue for the showers today, so ablutions done it was time to break another wet camp with tent drenched and damp sleeping bags and pillows.

The Technical Museum was on the opposite side of town, and the right side for the ferry. We'd planned a lazy start and to spend the afternoon there before boarding the ferry, but we were early and it wasn't the best museum to kill time in. They had some vintage cars and motorcycles, mining technology, telecommunications, but the best bit was computers and we whiled some time away playing Space Invaders, Pacman and Pong. We then had a little drive around the Djurgarden which is a rural piece of land with fields, trees and horses... a bit like Windsor Park. But we'd still exhausted our interest and ended up at the ferry two hours early so sat parked reading books.

The journey out of Stockholm was quite an experience. The 'Romantika', our vessel, and with another large ferry in close pursuit, weaved in and out of countless islands and past many coves and ferry crossings. We must have been traveling past them for over 2.5 hours before we decided to call it a night and spend some time watching tv in our cabin.
